Letter from Stewart Stevenson Alex Salmond (Scottish)

When we met Thursday night I told you that I felt I should resign as Minister of transport, infrastructure and climate change.

You me kindly to Friday to consider whether that was appropriate to take measures. I took this time

think through and myself have decided to resign.

In my range of responsibilities that I've concentrated on winter development-government readiness and these past few weeks that has helped us manage a prolonged and acute weather conditions.

Monday, we faced an even greater challenge. Although we have in place considerable efforts to tackle the event, I think that I could do more to ensure that the members of the public who took a set of circumstances difficult and frightening were better informed about the situation.

I deeply regret that and for this reason, I think I should resign.

I am also aware, there are a lot of political parties in the last days and that my presence continues to Government politically would be used by our adversaries.

I've not spent my adult life winner Scottish independence and working in and serving in this first SNP Government to allow that to happen.

During the past three years and a half, as I sought to give all that I can serve as a Minister and believe that many of the initiatives put in place have contributed to developing our infrastructure to transport and support our economy.

However, it is a pleasure to be Minister who led climate change Act by the Scottish Parliament.

Thank you for your continued support and encouragement in this period and assure you that I will support with enthusiasm back SNP Government work.
